Unfiled Years Factory
Missed a year — or ten? Old returns are prepared on paper and mailed. That is not a limitation of this app; it is the IRS's rule for everyone.
Education only — not personal tax advice. Personal questions route to a credentialed pro.
Step 1 — Build your compliance plan
Check every year you did not file. IRS Policy Statement 5-133: the IRS generally requires the last 6 years of returns to bring a non-filer back into compliance — right now that is generally 2020–2025. Filing an older year still matters: it starts the 10-year collection clock and ends Substitute-for-Return exposure for that year.
You need a profile before a plan can be saved — create one (Profile / PIN). You can still read everything and build a packet below.
Step 2 — Prepare a year
E-FILE WINDOW This year sits inside the IRS e-file window (current + 2 prior years) — e-file becomes possible once IRS testing passes. Paper works today, and the packet below is the path.
| Standard deduction — Single | $15,750 |
| Standard deduction — Married filing jointly | $31,500 |
| Standard deduction — Head of household | $23,625 |
| Child tax credit (max per child under 17) | $2,200 |
| IRA contribution limit (context) | $7,000 |
QCD limit $108,000 verified for 2025. Energy credits (Form 5695) end for property placed in service after Dec 31, 2025.
Document checklist — 2025
Official IRS documents for 2025: Form 1040 (2025) — PDF · Instructions for Form 1040 (2025) — PDF
All forms index: IRS prior-year forms and instructions. IRS forms stay in English, as issued.
Step 3 — Build your Print & Mail packet
The packet is a cover sheet plus the correct IRS mailing address for a Florida resident and the mailing checklist. It asks for name, address, filing status, and year only — never an SSN. The address changes depending on whether a payment is enclosed, so pick carefully.
Prefer a step-by-step interview that assembles the whole packet — including a figures worksheet, and amendments too? Use the Guided Packet Builder.
